Version 3.7.0.0 Notable Changes

Advanced SMTP Options

This release provides added features and control over advanced SMTP options. These options can be found on the Configuration > Policy > SMTP Options page:

The General Options tab allows you to set the method of recipient validation, the size of message to reject, the MTA banner string and the MTA HELO string. The recipient validation options were previously on the Configuration > Policy > Filtering Options page.

Clicking the Advanced button for Method of recipient validation provides additional configuration settings related to recipient caching.:

The Perimeter Protection tab contains options that were previously on the Configuration > Policy > Filtering Options page.

The Advanced tab allows fine-grained access to advanced SMTP options. While the default settings on this page are optimal for most organizations, you can tailor these settings to your environment if you have advanced knowledge of mail transfer agents and SMTP.

Mail Routing Improvements

You can now configure mail servers through which mail will be delivered to your internal network. Use the Configuration > Routing > Mail Delivery Servers page to add mail delivery servers and server groups to your appliance.

Use the Configuration > Routing > Mail Domains page to configure domains for which the Sophos Email Appliance will be accepting mail. Click the Add button to launch the Add Mail Domain wizard. This wizard allows you to configure domains and delivery methods.

If mail must be relayed to the internet through a proxy server, use the Configuration > Routing > Outbound Mail Proxy page to configure the settings. You can optionally enforce TLS and provide credentials should your outbound mail proxy require it.

Address Rewriting

You can now configure both recipient and sender address rewriting on the Configuration > Routing > Address Rewriting page.

Configuration Synchronization

Configuration Synchronization allows you to maintain some types of configuration data in text files on a different system than your Email Appliance. You can then sync that data to the Email Appliance via SCP to update your configuration. To enable Configuration Synchronization, use the Configuration > System > Configuration Sync page.

For more information on Configuration Synchronization, and the related configuration file types, see the Configuration Synchronization documentation in your appliance help.
